The FBI has raided the home of Michigan GOP gubernatorial candidate Ryan Kelley and has reportedly taken him into custody.

Video reviewed by a news outlet called the Bridge Michigan shows someone matching Kelley’s description being put into a gray SUV, according to the report.

“Chris Kelley, a relative and campaign treasurer for the Kelley campaign, said he was ‘aware’ of the Thursday morning law enforcement raid but declined further comment,” Bridge News stated.

According to the Daily Wire, David Eggert, a reporter for Crain’s Detroit Business, also reported that Kelley had been taken into custody at his home.

Jonathan Oosting, a reporter for the Bridge News, posted an update on Twitter concerning the arrest and raid, saying, “Ryan Kelley is facing multiple charges related to January 6, 2021. He has admitted he was at the riots but claims he did not go inside the U.S. Capitol.”

According to the Daily Wire, “Kelley is one of the five GOP candidates who qualified for the August primary ballot. The real estate agent has organized protests against Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s strict COVID-19 lockdowns in 2020, and he was present at the January 6 Capitol riot.”

“During the events of January 6, 2021, video footage allegedly showed Kelley encouraging protesters as they entered the Capitol building, according to Bridge News. The video footage also reportedly showed the Republican candidate climbing on scaffolding outside the building as groups of rioters breached the Capitol. Kelley has denied ever entering the building,” the report continued.

A spokesperson for Kelley spoke with the Daily Wire and stated that she has no additional information at this time.

Kevin Rinke, another GOP candidate for governor, gave a statement to the Daily Wire, saying he respects Kelley and is praying for him and his family as he continues to wait for more information to be released concerning the FBI’s raid.

The Michigan Republican primary has been swirling with chaos and controversy. Just last week, the Michigan Supreme Court took a hatchet to the hopes and dreams of three GOP candidates who were hoping to get on the ballot for the August primary, slicing and dicing those ambitions to bits.

The Daily Wire said, “In three separate 6-1 rulings, the state’s highest court upheld the recommendations of the Michigan Bureau of Elections to keep former Detroit Police Chief James Craig, businessman Perry Johnson, and financial adviser Michael Markey off the ballot for the Republican primary, the Detroit News reported.”

Michigan, as a state, is in pretty bad shape after being under the leadership of Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, as the entire nation knows from all of the news coverage of the disastrous policies she put in place during the thick of the coronavirus pandemic.

And now you have what honestly seems like a political attack on the candidates seeking to oppose her in a bid for reelection. Sure, that might not be the case at all. However, the optics here certainly don’t look good for Whitmer and other Democrats.

As of now, the state will have five candidates on the ballot to choose from including, political commentator Tudor Dixon, chiropractor Garrett Soldano, Pastor Ralph Rebandt, businessman Kevin Rinke, and real estate broker Ryan Kelley.

Stay tuned, folks. The drama is just getting started.
